Who is the Frolic Vaporizer for?

The Frolic Vaporizer is Limelight's first herb vaporizer, designed and built in Serbia by a mod maker with more than a decade of high-end engineering behind it. It is consistently ranked among the most potent portables of its generation.

It sits at the top end of the portable price range, and for that price you get a 120 W heater, adjustable airflow and a battery you can replace. The Frolic is built for short breaks: one or two draws on demand, then back in the pocket.

Sitting on a bubbler at home, few battery portables come close to it.

Machined PEEK Body, Built to Be Carried Every Day

The Frolic measures 105 × 63 × 24 mm and weighs 245 g with the battery fitted. That makes it a jacket-pocket or bag vape, similar in size to the biggest premium portables.

The body pairs CNC-machined PEEK with black high-temperature thermoplastic parts, plus thick metal plates at the top and bottom. Both the body and the heater tube are textured for a firm grip, and the texture also helps the outside shed heat. The materials hold up to being carried in a pocket every day without showing wear.

The battery sits low in the body, so the weight falls into your palm. That low centre of gravity also means the Frolic stands steady on a table or when it is seated in a water piece.

A 120 W Heater Ready in About Five Seconds

Behind the chamber sits a 120 W stainless steel heater, far more power than most portables carry. It is a rolled foil sheet with a large surface area, built to warm a big volume of air at once.

Heating is hybrid, and roughly three quarters of the work is convection. Warm air passes through the whole load of herbs, reaching every piece, while the chamber walls add a smaller share of heat by direct contact.

From cold the Frolic reaches temperature in about five seconds, and it is effectively instant on repeat draws. Long, powerful draws do not pull the temperature down, because the large heater holds plenty of heat in reserve.

Smooth Vapour Through a Long Cooling Path

The cooling unit holds over 200 mm of internal pathways in a section that comes apart into three parts plus the mouthpiece. Vapour enters at the bottom, circles through the labyrinth, then rises through a second chamber before it reaches your lips.

The air path is 100% CNC-machined PEEK and fully insulated from the rest of the vape. PEEK stays inert at these temperatures, and it allows a far longer path than glass would in a body this size.

Flavour stays clean and rich in terpenes, and it holds up across the whole session. Flavour typically improves after a few days of use as the materials settle in.

The mouthpiece bore is wide and elliptical, narrower at the bottom and wider at the top, which slows the air and keeps long draws comfortable.

The Frolic ships with the classic mouthpiece fitted. The fold-out mouthpiece is the most popular upgrade, since it folds flat against the body for carry and extends the cooling path slightly on its way through.

Airflow You Set by Hand

A small ring at the base of the mouthpiece sets airflow anywhere from closed to 25 L/min wide open. Fully right is open, fully left is closed, and the marked dot shows you where you are.

Wide open, the draw has almost no resistance, so no special inhaling technique is needed and the Frolic is easy to pass around a group. Closing the ring adds resistance for a tighter draw, and a third open is a good middle ground between comfort and a tighter pull.

Only the outer ring turns, so you can rotate the mouthpiece a full circle to any position without changing the airflow setting.

Two Modes: Session and On-Demand

Session mode runs the heater continuously up to 220°C, with a timer that counts down on screen and defaults to around five minutes. This is the relaxed setting for longer, slower use, and it gives full draws at lower temperatures.

On-demand mode heats only while you hold the button and reaches 240°C, twenty degrees above the session ceiling. Heat-up is effectively instant once warm, so a single draw is ready whenever you want one. This mode is intense, and it works through a small load quickly.

At the same temperature, both modes extract about equally well. Temperature controls draw strength, and the mode you choose sets the pace: a quick vape during a short break, or a longer, relaxed session.

Temperature Control in Single Degrees

The Frolic covers 40°C to 240°C in single-degree steps, set with the plus and minus buttons. There are no fixed presets, so the vaporizer holds exactly the temperature you set.

Around 175°C to 190°C is where flavour and comfort sit best for most people. Higher settings near 210°C to 220°C extract more material per draw and give a stronger character.

Step the temperature up as a load empties out, starting near 190°C and climbing in stages towards 220°C. The stock cooling unit is most comfortable below about 230°C, and water filtration suits the top of the range.

Controls and Colour Screen at the Base

A 0.96" colour OLED shows the mode, set temperature, session timer or elapsed draw time, and battery level. Three buttons handle everything: the fire button on the side sits where your thumb lands, and plus and minus sit at the base.

An LED glows orange while heating and turns green when the set temperature is reached, with a vibration at the same moment. Both the LED and the vibration can be switched off in a hidden settings menu, along with the °C and °F choice.

There is no app and no Bluetooth pairing, so no feature requires a phone. The screen and buttons sit in the base, which means you look at the bottom to read your settings, and it also means the display stays visible when the Frolic is seated in a water piece.

Chamber, Loading and Dosing Capsules

The chamber is hard-anodised aluminium and holds approximately 0.25 g of ground herbs. The whole top section lifts straight up and off to reach it, and the non-stick finish means used herbs usually lift out as a single brown puck.

A medium grind works best. Fill loosely to the top, leave the herbs unpacked, and keep the rim and the seal ring clear so the top seats properly. Small loads down to around 0.05 g work well too, and stirring is optional because the bake is even enough without it.

Storz & Bickel dosing capsules fit the Frolic chamber, so a capsule collection from any Storz & Bickel portable carries straight over. Pre-fill a few at home and drop them in as you go, which also keeps the chamber cleaner for longer.

Because the Frolic needs pre-ground herbs and has no onboard storage, a TightVac MiniVac (sold separately) is a practical partner for carrying your herbs and keeping odours sealed in.

Ideally Suited to a Water Pipe

Water filtration is one of the Frolic's strongest use cases. The low battery position keeps it stable when it is attached to glass, and the base-mounted screen stays in view while the vape sits in the joint.

Both adapters connect to the airflow control ring, so you keep the full airflow range on glass. Water filtration is also the best option at 230°C and above, where the stock cooling unit has less capacity to cool the vapour and the water takes over the cooling.

The 14 mm adapter and the 18 mm adapter are both available as add-ons, and the direct output adapter connects your own glass straight to the oven for a mostly-glass vapour path.

How to Use the Frolic

Everything is handled by three buttons and the colour screen, and a full session runs like this.

  1. Loading: Pull the whole top section straight up, fill the chamber loosely with a medium grind, and refit the top by gripping the sides with your fingers clear of the plus and minus buttons.
  2. Powering on: Three quick clicks of the fire button wake the screen.
  3. Choosing a mode: Press plus and minus together to cycle through to mode selection, then pick session or on-demand.
  4. Setting up: Adjust the temperature with plus and minus, then set the airflow by turning the small ring under the mouthpiece. The large aluminium ring is the lock that holds the cooling unit together, not the airflow control.
  5. Heating: In session mode a single click starts the heater and the countdown. In on-demand mode you hold the fire button. The LED turns green with a vibration when the temperature is reached.
  6. Inhaling: Take steady draws of around five to ten seconds, holding the button through the draw in on-demand mode. The first draw acts as a primer with plenty of flavour, and the second carries the load's full character.
  7. Stepping up: Raise the temperature in stages as the draws weaken.
  8. Finishing: Session mode ends when the timer runs out or you press the fire button again, with a vibration to signal the end. On-demand stops the moment you release the button. Left idle, the Frolic powers itself down, and three clicks switch it off at any time.
  9. Emptying: Lift the top section and shake the used herbs out, using the included stirring tool, stored under the top section, if the puck sticks. Brushing the chamber while it is still warm is far easier than cold.

Battery and Charging, Once a Day

The Frolic runs on a removable 5000 mAh 21700 cell, larger than the 18650 most portables use, which is what feeds the 120 W heater. Expect 7 to 13 sessions per charge depending on mode and temperature, which works out to charging about once a day, much like a phone.

Performance holds steady as the charge drops. Heat-up does not slow down as the battery empties, which is unusual in this category.

Charging runs over USB-C at 5 V / 2 A, with a full charge in about 1 hour 40 minutes. The Frolic does not run while plugged in, and it switches itself fully off once charged, so it can safely stay on the plug.

A USB-C cable is included and there is no wall adapter in the box. The port sits in the metal base, so it is worth keeping the base clear of loose herbs.

Unscrewing the battery cap takes seconds, and the cell drops in with the positive terminal down. The Reliance RS50 - 5000 mAh 21700 Battery gives you a second cell to rotate, and the Xtar X2 - Battery Charger holds two cells at once so one charges while the other is in use. Both are sold separately, along with a USB-C fast charger if you need a wall plug for home or travel.

Cleaning and Maintenance

After a session, brush the chamber and the underside of the cooling unit, and wipe the chamber with a damp cloth while it is still warm. Frequent brushing keeps residue out of the screens.

Once or twice a week, take the cooling unit apart and wash it in warm soapy water or isopropyl alcohol. It splits into three parts plus the mouthpiece with no tools. A small nub stops the locking clip going on the wrong way round, and the cooling unit parts are dishwasher safe. Take the seal rings out before any alcohol soak, since alcohol makes the rubber brittle over time.

If the cooling unit feels stiff to lift off, a little silicone grease on the oven seal ring makes it easy. Screens are the first parts to clog, and clogged screens noticeably restrict airflow, so cleaning the screen or fitting a new one restores the draw.

A screen set and the mouthpiece seal rings cover the usual wear parts, a spare cooling unit lets you keep vaping while one soaks, and a replacement stirring tool covers the small three-in-one tool if it goes missing. All are available as add-ons.

Frolic vs Venty

The Venty is Storz & Bickel's flagship portable, a German-made session vaporizer with app connectivity and the deepest accessory range in the category. Its cooling unit is smoother and twists off more easily for loading, and the Venty costs less.

The Frolic answers with a true on-demand mode, which the Venty does not have: the heater runs only while you hold the button. It reaches 240°C where the Venty stops at 210°C. Heat-up takes around 5 seconds against roughly 20 for the Venty. The battery is a removable 5000 mAh 21700 where the Venty's is sealed. Airflow is rated at 25 L/min against the Venty's 20 L/min.

If you take one or two draws at a time and want a battery you can replace years from now, the Frolic fits that pattern. For long, relaxed sessions, the Venty is still the better choice.

Frolic vs Tinymight 2

The Tinymight 2 is a hand-built Finnish on-demand convection portable with a wood body and an all-glass vapour path, revered for flavour and backed by a long warranty. It is smaller and easier to pocket in every configuration, and its glass path still gives it the better flavour of the two.

The Frolic offers precise control in single degrees on a colour screen, where the Tinymight 2 uses a 1 to 10 dial. It adds adjustable airflow up to 25 L/min, which the Tinymight 2 does not have. Its 5000 mAh 21700 cell also carries well above the capacity of an 18650. Loading is as simple as filling the chamber, and there is no protruding glass to snap.

Flavour purists who like a compact, handmade vape will stay with the Tinymight 2. The Frolic suits owners who want digital control and airflow adjustment in the same body.

Frolic vs Mighty+

The Mighty+ is Storz & Bickel's long-established, reliable session vaporizer, hybrid heated with a ceramic-coated chamber, and the model the dosing capsule system was built around. It is proven, easy to draw on even with an imperfect technique, and backed by years of parts availability.

The Frolic adds power the instant you want it, heating only while the button is held and reaching 240°C in that mode. It also brings adjustable airflow from closed to 25 L/min, which the Mighty+ does not offer, and a 21700 cell you can replace where the Mighty+ battery is sealed in.

Steady, repeatable session vaping is where the Mighty+ has always been strong. The two share dosing capsules, so a Mighty+ owner's pre-filled doses drop straight into the Frolic chamber.

Recommended Accessories

Right now we offer a 25% discount on all accessories when you buy any vaporizer here at MagicVaporizers. Here is a guide to what is worth adding to a Frolic order, starting with the wall adapter that is not included in the box and the most popular mouthpiece upgrade.

USB-C Fast Charger (45W): The Frolic comes with a cable and no wall plug, so this fills the gap at home or in a suitcase.

Fold-Out Mouthpiece: The most popular Frolic upgrade we stock. It folds flat for carry and extends the cooling path for a slightly cooler draw.

Water Pipe Adapter (14 mm): Run the Frolic through water for cooler, filtered draws at the top of the temperature range.

Water Pipe Adapter (18 mm): The same adapter for glass with the larger 18 mm joint.

Direct Output Adapter: Connects your own glass straight to the oven for a mostly-glass vapour path and external filtration.

Reliance RS50 - 5000 mAh 21700 Battery: A second cell doubles your time away from a charger, and it replaces the original when it eventually ages.

Xtar X2 - Battery Charger: Two bays mean one cell charges on the desk while the other works in the vape.

TightVac MiniVac 0,12 L: Carries pre-ground herbs in a pocket-sized airtight container with the odour sealed in, and it is just as good at storing already-vaped herb between sessions.

TightVac Debowler: Tap the warm puck straight into this container after a session, then move the already-vaped herb to the MiniVac for later use.

Magnetic USB-C Adapter: Protects the base-mounted charging port from cable tugs and awkward angles.

Classic Mouthpiece: A spare of the mouthpiece included in the box, handy as a backup or for sharing in a group.

Stirring Tool: The little tool that lifts the used puck out, takes the cooling unit apart and unscrews the battery door. If you lose it, you lose all three functions at once.

Cooling Unit: A complete assembly, so one can soak clean while you carry on vaping with the other.

Screen Set: Screens clog before any other part, and a clogged screen tightens the draw, so keeping spares on hand is an inexpensive precaution.
