The lid magnet is strong enough that a loaded grinder can be carried safely in a bag, and the multi-lead threads seat in a fraction of a turn from any position, and because they are steel it is virtually impossible to start them at an angle and damage them.
Three pieces also means fewer parts to take apart: cleaning means brushing it out and soaking it now and then, with one chamber fewer than the 4-piece and no screen that needs cleaning.
