The FocusVape Pro S Premium is the brand's top model, a slim pen-style vaporizer with a swappable battery, single-degree heat control and a glass water bubbler in the kit. It is consistently rated among the best pen vaporizers.

The design dates back to 2018, and that age is why spare screens, filters and glass stay cheap and easy to find today. The narrow pen chamber needs the packing tool to empty it. In return you get a vaporizer that slips lengthwise into a jacket pocket and runs from two buttons.

The Pro S Premium measures 2.3 × 2.3 × 17.2 cm and weighs 180 g. It slides into a jacket or trouser pocket, and the flat black base lets it stand upright on a table while you load it.

The aluminium housing gives it a solid, weighty feel, and the two arrow keys under the display press with a firm click. A silicone sleeve adds grip and insulation, so the body stays cooler in the hand.

The glass mouthpiece and the bubbler are made of glass, so both need careful handling when you carry them in a bag. The kit includes a second glass mouthpiece. No carry case comes in the box.

The Pro S Premium heats by conduction. The hot ceramic walls of the chamber pass heat straight into the herbs they touch, much like a warm stone passing heat into your palm.

The display reaches your set temperature in about 35 seconds, roughly the time it takes to grind a load. Give the ceramic another minute or two before the first draw. Ceramic holds heat well, and a fully warmed chamber extracts far more evenly.

The Pyrex glass mouthpiece holds three stages of filtration: stainless steel screens, a ceramic filter that cools the vapour, and a cooling tunnel that lowers the vapour temperature. On its way to your lips, the vapour touches only glass, ceramic and steel.

The air path is fully sealed off from the electronics, so incoming air never passes over internal parts. Flavour stays clean, and the glass keeps the mouthpiece from getting hot against your lips.

A rotating ring opens one, two or three airflow holes. One hole gives a tight draw, like sipping through a straw. Three holes give an open, airy draw, and you can turn the ring mid-session by feel.

The Premium package adds a two-piece borosilicate glass bubbler that snaps on where the glass mouthpiece sits. Vapour bubbles up through the water, which cools it and adds moisture to the draw. It brings the bubbling sound and cooling feel of a water pipe to a pen-sized vaporizer.

Above roughly 205°C the vapour gets hot on its own, and the water is what keeps those sessions mild. Water filtration on a pen vaporizer is rare, and it is the reason the Premium kit exists.

Fill the bubbler while it is detached, dry the bottom connection, then snap it into place. Never add water while it sits on the vaporizer. Turn it upside down before taking it off so the water drains out first.

The two arrow keys set any temperature between 80°C and 240°C, one degree at a time. The OLED shows your target, the live chamber temperature and the battery level, so you never have to guess how far along the heating is.

A short vibration signals that the set temperature is reached, so you never need to watch the screen. The vaporizer remembers your last setting and powers back on at it. Everything runs from two buttons, which helps when it is being passed around a group.

Around 170°C the first two or three draws taste clean and flavour-rich. Between 190°C and 210°C the extraction picks up while the draw stays comfortable. At 220°C and above, use the bubbler.

A popular way to run it is in two stages: start at 170°C for the flavour draws, then step up to 210°C or 220°C to pull the rest out of the load.

The ceramic chamber takes roughly 0.4 to 0.5 g of ground herbs, which is large for a pen-sized vaporizer. A stainless steel screen sits at the bottom, so the herbs never rest on the heating surface directly.

Conduction heating works best with finely ground, dry herbs. Pack loosely and tamp gently; a tight pack pressed against the walls can scorch at high temperatures. The packing tool in the kit fills the narrow chamber and also works for stirring the herbs and scraping the chamber.

You can add a concentrate capsule (sold separately) if you want to use waxes and oils as well as herbs. The all-ceramic capsule drops into the chamber and keeps oils off the chamber walls.

Two arrow keys handle every function, so a session is mostly loading and waiting.

1. Loading: Unscrew the glass mouthpiece, then fill the ceramic chamber with finely ground, dry herbs using the packing tool. Pack loosely and tamp gently.
2. Assembling: Screw the glass mouthpiece back on. If you are using the bubbler, fill it with water while it is detached, dry the bottom, then snap it into the mouthpiece position.
3. Heating: Press either arrow key three times quickly. The vaporizer starts heating to your last used temperature, and the arrows adjust it degree by degree.
4. Waiting: The vibration tells you the target is reached. Allow another minute or two so the ceramic chamber becomes fully warm.
5. Airflow: Turn the ring to one, two or three holes, and change it during the session if you want a tighter or airier draw.
6. Inhaling: Draw slowly and steadily. Stir the chamber once or twice with the tool for even extraction.
7. Finishing: The vaporizer switches off after five minutes. Press a button to run another cycle if the load is not finished, or hold both arrows for three seconds to switch it off. Dig the used herbs out with the tool while the chamber is still warm.

A 3200 mAh 18650 cell powers the Pro S Premium, and you can take it out. Unscrew the bottom cap, drop in a charged cell and screw the cap back on, much like changing a cell in a torch.

One charge covers around eight five-minute heating cycles, or three to five longer sessions. A second cell in your bag means battery life stops being a factor on long days away from a socket.

Charging runs over the micro-USB cable supplied in the box, and no wall adapter is included. The Pro S Premium does work while plugged in, and the airflow sits fully open whenever it is on the cable.

The Eve 35V - 3500 mAh 18650 Battery is a capacity upgrade on the stock cell and the natural spare to carry. The Xtar X2 - Battery Charger tops up two cells at once outside the vape, which is quicker and saves wear on the charging port.

Brush the chamber out with the included brush while it is still warm, since resin moves more easily then. Every few sessions, wipe the inside with an alcohol swab to keep the taste clean.

The glass mouthpiece unscrews and can soak in alcohol for about half an hour. The second glass mouthpiece from the kit stays in use while the first one soaks.

The ceramic filter inside the mouthpiece is the part that collects resin and tightens the draw over time. A neat trick: drop the clogged filter into the heated chamber and run a cycle so the residue burns off it.
